In Spring 1975, Chicago investor Arthur Allyn purchased controlling interest of Air South, Florida Airlines and Shawnee Airlines. By the end of 1975 their schedules were consolidated although the airlines continued to operate separately, for the most part.
In late 1976, the combined airlines were branded as The Connection, emphasizing connecting flights with major airlines. By the time the June 1, 1977 timetable was published, Shawnee Airlines had been sold and Air South had been reduced to a single Atlanta - St. Simons Island route. Starting with the August 1, 1977 issue, Air South and Florida Air Lines schedules were shown separately, often with different effective dates.
Air South / Florida Airlines shut down on January 11, 1980 and Air South's routes and assets were immediately taken over by Ocean Airways.
