AIR SOUTH (Florida, 1980s)
Air South (no relation to the earlier Air South based in Georgia) began scheduled flights as Bahama Caribbean between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini in 1980. In 1981 the name was changed to Bahamas Caribbean and in 1982 the airline became Aero International.
The name was changed yet again in 1985 to Air South and several three-engine Britten Norman Tri-Islanders were added to the fleet. Below: Britten Norman Tri-Islander N906GD pictured at Fort Lauderdale.

Air South timetable from February 9, 1987. Thanks to Björn Larsson for this image! The logo with the Tri-Islander in the tropical sunset is really cool.
Air South route map from February 9, 1987. Routes to Tampa, Orlando and Cape Kennedy were only proposed and not actually flown at that time. Air South ceased operations later in 1987. Thanks again to Björn Larsson for this image.
